We play the widest range of traditional South African music you’ll be able to find on this side of the world. South Africa is a country of many cultures and languages, so our station is like a journey through our homeland. The music we play inspires us, and we hope it will inspire you too. Dinnertime music every evening, the best of gospel on a Sunday as well as music to fall in love (again) to! You can expect a range of traditional accents and stories that cover all aspects of South African life.

Have a look at some of the genres on the airwaves at the moment.

The traditional form of music from Kwa Zulu Natal is also known as “Zulu Blues” in some parts of the world. Maskandi music is the core music of Mnxeba FM. Maskandi is typified by music that tells stories, meaning that you’ll hear some similarities in content to other genres of blues around the world. Umnexba FM is currently running as our substation, playing nothing but Maskandi all day every day, so you never miss your fix.
